In Hamburg we treat patients at the Alster-Klinik, a private clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery belonging to the CGCE Group, in the Rotherbaum district. Surgery takes place in the clinic's own operating suite, and registered nurses are there for you day and night. Depending on the extent, lipoedema surgery is performed as a day case or with one night in the clinic.

Where will my lipoedema surgery in Hamburg take place?
At the Alster-Klinik, Rothenbaumchaussee 7, in the clinic's own operating suite. Depending on the extent, the procedure is performed as a day case or with one night in the clinic – registered nurses are there for you day and night.
Does health insurance pay for lipoedema surgery?
At the Alster-Klinik, lipoedema surgery is paid for by the patient (self-pay). For patients with German statutory health insurance, however, liposuction for lipoedema has been covered regardless of stage since the decision of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) of 17 July 2025, provided certain requirements are met. These include six months of documented conservative therapy, a stable weight and an upper BMI limit. If your costs may be covered, we coordinate the procedure through our NATIONALKLINIK in Wertheim – consultation and aftercare stay with us in Hamburg. You no longer need to submit an individual application to your health insurer.
